Thank you for taking a look at my logo.

My current logo appears below. As you can see, it's basically a big blue dome with the words "AstroDome Planetarium" and it's based on what the AstroDome Planetarium actually looks like (see photograph below). This logo has served me well for the last 5 years. However, now that I want to put my logo onto apparel - so that I can have an official uniform for the first time - I'm starting to rethink this logo. My main concern is that I'm planning to purchase mainly blue coloured shirts and I'm worried that this logo, which is almost entirely blue, will become lost on the blue clothing. So, I would like to have a new logo - a more colourful one - to go on the new clothes that I've ordered from 4imprint.

Please scroll down further for the things that I'm looking for in the new logo, as well as a potential starting point for the new logo design.

The portable and inflatable AstroDome Planetarium appears below. As you can see, from the outside it appears as just a big blue dome.

The New Logo

Here is the potential starting point for a new logo. I do want the dome shape to remain, but other than that, I'm open to new ideas. I've noticed that a lot of logos are circular and with this dome shape, we're well on our way to having a circular logo. It doesn't actually have to be circular though, if you have something else in mind that will work.
Picture
Something that I don't like about this design are the orange and blue patches. They should be replaced with green and yellowish-green. The magenta (pink) can stay because along with green, those are the colours most often seen when you observe the real Northern Lights in the sky. Below are some actual photographs of the Northern Lights so that you can see the colours that I would like to have in the new logo.

Another thing that I don't like about the design above are that those three swirls of colour look more like tornados, rather than Northern Lights. Below are some logos that have Northern Lights that look much better, especially the one from "Travel Reykjavik".
Picture
Can you blend the logo that I like above - the one that says "Northern Lights Tours" - with the sky portion of the logo below? If so, that would be pretty close to what I'm looking for in my new logo. Please scroll down a bit more for a few final thoughts.
Picture
Below, you will see a very quick mashup of what I'm looking for in my new logo. I'm by no means a graphic artist and so I need your expertise to make this actually look good. I also don't have the software needed to create vector graphics, which obviously I need in order to get my logo onto 4imprint apparel and merchandise.

As mentioned previously, the logo doesn't have to be circular, although I thought with the dome at the top it would lend itself to being circular. Also, I would like to have four (4) stars in my new logo. My current logo also has four (4) stars and that's because my company name is "Astronomer 4 Hire" so please add some stars. The stars do not have to be 8-point stars, like the "Travel Reykjavik" logo, you can make them 5-point stars instead. As for the colour of the stars, they could be gold, like my current logo, or perhaps silver or white, whatever you think would look best.

Please choose a better looking font too. The one that I used below (in my mashup) was just a default font. As for that black circular border, I can go either way on that - either keeping it or getting rid of it. Once again, go with whatever you think would look best. If you're having problems fitting in "ASTRODOME PLANETARIUM" on two lines, perhaps we can just go with "ASTRODOME" instead.

Finally, perhaps you should make some subtle, but significant, changes to the logo so that nobody gets upset over copyright infringement. I look forward to seeing what you create and also to wearing some new clothes with my new embroidered logo.

Thank you!

Revision #1

Your initial design is close to what I'm looking for, thank you!

However, I would like you to tweak it just a little bit.

To start, please switch the Northern Lights from a top-left to bottom-right orientation to a bottom-left to top-right orientation, so that it somewhat resembles the "swoosh" in the NASA logo (see below). Also, with the Northern Lights, can you put them a bit higher in the sky and not so much on the ground. By doing this, you will create a little less dark blue sky at top and a little more at the bottom.

As for the colours of the Northern Lights, I like them, but please have the pink (fuchsia) higher in the sky than the dark green, as that is often how they are seen.
Picture
I do like the star at the 12 o'clock position, as it reminds me of the North Star, but I don't really like the star that is on top of (in the middle of) the Northern Lights. Please place two stars in the dark blue sky up high and two stars in the (now larger) dark blue sky down low.

As for the two black stars on either side of the word "ASTRODOME" can they be moved outwards, so that there is a bit of space between them and the word? Perhaps the size of the font should be made a bit smaller to make this work, what do you think? I like how "PLANETARIUM" is in bold.
The "swoosh" in the NASA logo goes from the bottom-left to top-right.

Revision #2

Thank you for making all the changes that I requested.

Lifting the Northern Lights off the ground didn't turn out as I had envisioned. So please bring them back down to the ground, but they should only occupy one-third of the ground, not the two-thirds that the original design had. In other words, they should touch the ground above the "AST" in "ASTRODOME" which oddly enough is the exact opposite of how they were in your original design,

As for the colours of the Northern Lights, can you add a nice shade of violet / purple above the pink (fuchsia) and by "nice shade" I mean one that goes well (compliments) the pink (fuchsia). The other three colours should remain, but if you could make that yellow-green colour just a bit more green, that would be great.

Picture
Finally, please create a new swirl pattern for the Northern Lights. I have sketched a pattern for you, please try to recreate it the best you can. The sketch appears below. Please note that my sketch also includes the four (4) stars. Please put one star at the 12 o'clock position. Currently, it's a little to the right of this position.

Thank you!

Revision #3
We are so very close to having the perfect logo!

I think this will be the last revision and it should only take you a few minutes.

Please move the star that I have indicated up and to the right a little bit. This will get it just a bit closer to the "North Star" at the 12 o'clock position. I would like to see this star be located just a bit farther away from the Northern Lights.

Thank you so much for adding the purple. Now that I see it, I would like you to make one small change and that is to have a bit less purple where I have indicated. If you slope the purple in this area downwards, to match the contour of the fuchsia underneath it, I think the logo will be perfect.
Picture

I'm so confident that this will be the last revision, that I'd like to say "thank you" right now to all the artists that have worked on my logo over the past week. You certainly do great work and I'm very happy with what you have created.

Sincerely,

Revision #4

I'm so sorry!

I should have quantified how much I wanted that star to move. In retrospect, words like "a bit" and "a tiny bit" are vague and not very helpful.

Anyway, I have moved that star into the proper position. Please notice how the star has been rotated a bit as well. I actually just copied the other star, the one that I refer to as the "North Star", and then pasted it down and to the left.

Please move that star to make it look like this and then we will be done. By the way, the Northern Lights look great!

Thank you!
